City Council Creates Precinct 4!

January 19, 2010 - Bringing us to this point was a unanimous vote at the Frisco City Council to amend the city charter to create a new polling precinct to accommodate the residents of south-west Frisco encompassing all LISD and some FISD neighborhoods. Welcome to newly established Frisco Precinct 4!

The February 8th LISD Trustee vote will conclude a series of events, starting with the approval last summer of the Heritage Lakes clubhouse as a polling site by the Denton County Elections Administration. With that approval, formal requests were made of LISD and the City of Frisco to use Heritage Lakes as a consolidated polling location for Denton County, school district, and city elections. The city effort was spearheaded by Councilman Patrick Fallon, who also attended both the December and January LISD Board of Trustee meetings to present our single polling place case and garner trustee support.

Councilman Fallon’s leadership at the city level along with the strong show of support by many of your neighbors at the Frisco council meeting in early January led to the charter amendment vote two weeks later. Speaking on behalf of all the affected citizens at the January 5 meeting was The Lakes resident, Joe Cotten, former and current Stonebriar HOA Presidents, Bill Osborn and Ron Ruegge, respectively, and Heritage Lakes HOA President, Dudley Wilson. Approximately fifty other area residents were present in support of the initiative. The strong show of support did not go unnoticed by any council member and was, in fact, acknowledged by Mayor Maso in his closing comments.

The progress achieved to date is the result of efforts of many dedicated residents and is greatly appreciated by all.

A special “Thank You” goes out to Dudley Wilson, residents David Arbuckle and Alvin Huerta, and Joe Cotten (The Lakes) for all their “behind the scenes” work in bringing the cur-rent situation to bear.
