HOA leaders in four communities join forces with WeAreFrisco.org!
In a first ever joint strategy session, WeAreFrisco.org and Board Officers from several LISD neighborhoods in the city of Frisco met to develop a strategy to accomplish the ultimate goal of redistricting our neighborhoods into FISD.
State law first requires submission of a petition from half plus one of the registered voters in the neighborhoods affected.
A petition drive has been scheduled for Sunday, June 1st. Petitioners will meet at the Heritage Lakes Clubhouse at 3:00pm for an orientation and organizational meeting. All residents are encouraged to attend and help with this critical effort.
The following HOA officers in attendance committed their support for this initiative:
- Heritage Lakes HOA
- David Arbuckle – President
- Fran Wilson - Vice President (via proxy)
- Lakehill HOA
- Ed Pete – President
- Ronnie Dunn – Officer at Large
- Stonebriar HOA
- Bill Osborn - President
- Ron Ruegge – Vice President
- The Lakes HOA
- Keith Gyssler – President
Heritage Lakes' residents and founders of WeAreFrisco.org, Dudley Wilson and Alvin Huerta were in attendance to present the mission of the newly formed organization and offer its technological resources as a spring board for gathering and disseminating pertinent information.
WeAreFrisco was launched on Friday, May 2nd. The following day, during Heritage Lakes’ Cinco de Mayo celebration, an unmanned table was set up with a sign announcing the petition drive. Seventy-four signatures were collected in a matter of hours. Stonebriar HOA President, Bill Osborn stated that he believed his residents would gather over 1000 signatures prior to the June 1st petition drive. There are 2992 registered voters in the affected neighborhoods. Our goal is to obtain signatures from 90% of those voters. The other neighborhoods impacted that will be brought into the fold are Stonebriar Country Club Estates, The Lakes, and the Sequoia Apartments.
“We are thrilled to have the HOA officers on board” stated WeAreFrisco.org founder Dudley Wilson as he explained that a coalition of voters would be necessary to drive the objectives of the organization well into the future. “We are here to stay until the job is done - it’s not just about the petition drive”, added Alvin Huerta Co-Founder.
