We have been busy compiling frequently asked questions as they come into the forums. We will continue to add to this list as we have new questions asked. These FAQ’s are updated as information comes in and are accurate to the best of our knowledge.
- Will my child still be able to go to Thomas Hicks Elementary School?
- Probably. The LISD will have no use for an elementary school that is no longer attached to their district. The FISD will want the space for the new kids.
- Will Lewisville ISD reassign us to The Colony if we are not successful?
- LISD officials have been claiming that this is the long term plan for years. The success or failure of the petition drive will have no effect on this decision. By organizing this effort, we are also building a coalition of voters that may be able to have an impact on this decision when it comes before the board. The alternative is to wait, do nothing, and have this decision imposed upon us as we will not be organized to respond.
- Where has a redistricting petition drive been successful? How long did it take?
- It has been successful in many instances as long as section 13.051 of the code was followed to the letter. The pacing item on the timeframe is getting the signatures on the petition.
- This is a wonderful project how can I help?
- Spread the word, talk it up, sign the petition, and get involved.
- I have been told by ________ that Lewisville will never agree so why bother?
- We have never asked the question formally. That is the first step. To not start the process is to lose by default. We only need to win once.
- Who is behind this effort?
- The organization was formed by Dudley & Fran Wilson and Alvin Huerta, who are HeritageLakes residents.
- I’m happy with Arbor Creek and or Hebron.
- That isn’t guaranteed as we have been hearing for years that we will be redistricted to Colony High.
- Is this about property values or the kids?
- It’s about the kids and our community environment. Our kids live in Frisco and are not included in many of the events that occur in the city due to their LISD status. Our best projections are that property values would be greatly enhanced as a positive side benefit of this effort.
- How will this move effect my property value?
- Prominent local realtors have given us figures of 15%. Homes existing in our subdivisions on the edge of FISD sell for that premium. It may be higher as our “comps” may be holding theirs down.
- Will my taxes go up if we are moved to FISD?
- No. FISD taxes are lower than LISD taxes.
- What Middle or High schools will my kids attend if we are successful?
- This would be up to the FISD, but based on the current boundaries the closest schools are Pioneer Heritage MS (4 miles) and Frisco HS (3.5 miles). By comparison Arbor Creek MS and Hebron HS are 10 miles.
